Pope Deifies Mary As the Holy Spirit

The following is a brief debate between Lou and Andrew on a statement from the Pope that noted Mary's importance to evangelization.  Lou makes too much of the matter and distorts Catholic truth.

Lou writes:

Evangelism According to the Pope

Jesus Christ and His so-called "vicar" seem to have quite different views on evangelism. Jesus says:

Matthew 28:18-20 - "And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen."

The Pope says:

"I wish to entrust and offer the future of this continent to Most Holy Mary,Mother of Christ and The Church. That is why, I have the great joy to announce today that I have declared that the day December 12th, throughout all America, be celebrated to the Virgin Mary of Guadalupe with the liturgical rank of Feast. Oh Mother, you know the paths which the first missionaries of the New World followed, from the islands of Guanahani and Hispanola, to the Amazon jungles and the Andean summits, reaching to Tierra del Fuego in the South and the great lakes and mountains of the North. Accompany the Church which carries
her mission through all the nations of America, so that She may be always an Evangelizer; and renew her Missionary Spirit. Inspire all those to dedicate their lives to the cause of Jesus and to the extension of His kingdom." (Spoken by Pope John Paul II from the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Mexico City, January 23, 1999)

The Bible teaches that it's the Holy Spirit that is to accompany the church and provide guidance in evangelizing the world. The Pope looks to Mary. Where in the Bible is Mary seen leading people to Christ? Where??? It is clear that the type of evangelism encouraged by the John Paul is not in accord with the scriptures. In fact, there is nothing, not one word in all of the New Testament, to even hint at the agency of Mary in evangelizing, or in anything. Moreover, the Pope has effectively deified Mary by pronouncing her equal to the Holy Spirit in "accompanying" the Church in it's missionary endeavors. Such blasphemy!
The evangelization spoken of by the Pope is not that of the Gospel, which is "the Power of God unto salvation." But the spreading of the tentacles of the papal church, with her accursed theology of works and merited graces. She desires to have nations under her control once again, as she did in the dark ages. This is the intent of the RCC. It's not about witnessing the grace of Jesus. How could they? They don't even know Him. Their theology, their practices, and their dark history makes that quite evident.

Peace!

Andrew responds:

The Holy Father does NOT make Mary into a goddess!

The Icon on the Tilma Lead Millions of Indians Away from Pagan Human Sacrifice to Christianity

It has also been instrumental in obstructing abortion in Mexico today . . . pretty good fruits if you ask me.

Do you not see Mary as your Mother at all? Do you not count yourself kin to Christ?

Here is something about mothers, including Mary, and their tears:
(author unknown)

                                     WHY MOTHERS CRY...

"Why are you crying?" he asked his mom. "Because I'm a mother,"
      she told him.

      "I don't understand," he said.

His mom just hugged him and said, "You never will!" Later the little
boy asked his father why Mother seemed to cry for no reason. "All
mothers cry for no reason," was all his dad could say. The little boy
grew up and became a man, still wondering why mothers cry. So he
finally put in a call to God and when God got on the phone the man
said, "God, why do mothers cry so easily." God said, "You see son,
when I made mothers they had to be special. I made their shoulders
strong enough to carry the weight of the world, yet gentle enough to
give comfort. I gave them an inner strength to endure childbirth and
the rejection that many times come from their children. "I gave them
a hardiness that allows them to keep going when everyone else gives
up, and to take care of their families through sickness and fatigue
without complaining. "I gave them the sensitivity to love their
children under all circumstances, even when their child has hurt them
very badly. This same sensitivity helps them to make a child's
boo-boo feel better and helps them share a teenager's anxieties and
fears. "I gave them a tear to shed. It's theirs exclusively to use
whenever it's needed. It's their only weakness. It's a tear for
      mankind."

Peace.
